The Institute of Practical Philosophy (IFP) is a research unit of the University of Beira Interior, supported by the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) - Ministry of Science and Higher Education - in the multi-year funding of the R & D.

The philosophical goal of IFP is to promote studies and research in traditional areas of practical philosophy, ie ethics, moral philosophy and political philosophy, as well as in related areas, latest, including legal philosophy, philosophical anthropology, philosophy society, culture, communication and education.Given the late date of its creation and the low average age of its researchers, the IFP is in a consolidation phase, guided by the objective of creating the material conditions that enable and scientific in its area of intervention, an investigation of more high quality. This does not preclude also has a programmatic objective in the short term and medium term a significant scientific production in some areas.
